Summary |
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated site Head to join the Ochre Bio Team in NYC on an exciting journey to support the development of advanced RNA medicines for one of the most pressing healthcare challenges of our time. Ochre’s New York site is a highly unique organ perfusion lab that deep phenotypes human livers perfused on machines, to study their responses to advanced RNA therapies. Deep phenotyping includes: tissue imaging, blood and tissue functional studies, single-cell sequencing, and precision-slice culture of liver biopsies. This role supervises all team members at the site, while being accountable for Ochre’s Late Validation results. Late Validation includes both human livers and mouse models (via CROs). You will report to the Head of R&D and CSO, working closely with the perfusion team to ensure robust data. You will be expected to innovate new models to study human liver biology over multiple days of perfusion. This role will be based at Biolabs@NYU. |
Key Responsibilities |
– Act as site lead for New York site including supervising the US site as well as full accountability for Late Validation platforms. – Report to the Head of R&D and provide regular updates on perfusion data, CRO and site activities (via weekly Leadership Meeting, bi-weekly core meeting, 1:1 bi-weekly meeting, or email) – Communicate regularly with other members of the Leadership team to ensure inter-team dependencies are effectively managed – Manage the perfusion and scientific team to strive to exceed team and company goals including mentoring team to achieve their personal development goals. – Innovate and work with other Ochre teams to develop new technologies/pipelines that work towards our company’s overall aims – Design experimental plans and workflows for testing of target oligos in our perfusion platform – Design and implement in vivo mouse studies to be carried out by CROsDrive (in partnership with HR) hiring of staff, provision of benefits, contracts and other operational functions in line with running New York site – Oversee smooth running of NY lab ensuring coverage of staff, efficient sample management, maintenance of equipment and compliance with NYU Biolabs rules – Thought leadership in methods relevant to perfusion, preclinical models and mouse models – Maintain progress in personal and professional development to better domain, technical, and professional skills. |
Qualifications & Experience | |
Required – PhD in biosciences – Extensive experience in leading transdisciplinary teams in an industry matrix environment Desirable – Startup biotech experience Working in a global company |
